    Reducing dining hall waste became important to me and I realized how much food is wasted just by seeing it all on the dirty plates going to be washed. Now that I am aware of it it has become easier to only take what I think I am going to eat and then go back to reduce waste!

      In college, I worked in the cafeteria.  I occasionally did the dish job.  People would throw out whole apples and oranges, slices of bread uneaten, you name it.  It was really sad to see.  Just take it home for later.
