Alexa Contreras 12/04/2017 3:03 PMI was able to volunteer several hours this weekend for a nonprofit at different Christmas markets. It was nice being able to help out the community and see everyone come together for a good purpose during the holidays. -
Alexa Contreras 11/20/2017 12:59 PMSunday I got the opportunity to volunteer for the nonprofit Plant With Purpose. It was great being involved in the community and meeting new people while discussing important subjects involving sustainability that matter. -
Alexa Contreras 11/16/2017 3:08 PMI have been putting a separate bag next to our trash so my roommates will put their recyclable trash in there instead because we don't have a specific trash can for it. I am glad I did that otherwise all that would have been thrown away. Especially with four other roommates at the end of the week a lot of trash accumulates. -
Alexa Contreras 11/13/2017 3:47 PMI went to a sustainable market this past weekend. It was nice seeing the community come together in support of sustainability. I was actually surprised with how many people showed up. It had several small sustainable businesses selling their unique products. The only downside was the products were priced very high. -
Alexa Contreras 11/09/2017 3:59 PMI just recently went to a vintage flea market. It was one of my favorite things ever. All of the stuff being sold I loved I could of spent so much money there. It was cool to meet people and spend time with the community that have common interests. Also, to buy re-used stuff that is unique and has been around for a long time instead of buying new things that are constantly restocked.-

Alexa Contreras 10/30/2017 3:15 PMThis weekend I cleaned up trash in OB with Surfrider foundation. It was sad to see how much trash was actually there to clean up. However, it was nice being able to contribute even if it was very little.-
Emma Rucker 11/06/2017 3:03 PMI feel you! It was cool to see how many people came out and participated, though

Alexa Contreras 10/16/2017 4:17 PMThe past few weeks I have been more aware of my use of electronics and my roommates as well. When I leave a room I make sure I turn off the lights, tv, fan, ect. However, I cannot same the same for some of my roommates. I found myself being a little OCD about it when I see it I have to turn it off. For example, my roommates will leave the tv turned on just with the blue screen saying no signal for several hours, so I have been going around turning these devices off.-
Harry Watkins 10/22/2017 10:27 PMI do the same thing, Alexa. I always turn out the lights on the classrooms I teach in after the end of class for the same reason. -
Sabrinna Alonso 10/17/2017 10:03 AMI can relate to this. I live in one of the dorms on campus so I always find myself turning the bathroom or shower lights off if I know nobody is in there. I know that if I do not turn the lights off they could potentially be on all day long.

Alexa Contreras 10/09/2017 3:16 PMRecently, I have been trying to purchase and consume more organic meals. By doing so, it allows me to feel better. Not only that, but most foods irritate my stomach but organic foods help lessen the effect. It is a little more expensive, but I still think the positives out way the negatives. -
Alexa Contreras 10/02/2017 2:42 PMI went to the farmers market in support of the local business in the area. Not only am I benefiting their businesses, but myself and the environment. It is definitely and alls round win. I was able to get fresh produce and flowers when I went. I enjoy seeing the community come together doing this time and enjoy all the fresh goodies! -
Alexa Contreras 9/25/2017 3:04 PMYesterday I got the opportunity to go on a lovely hike. I was able to see the cool erosion on the rocks from the ocean. Also, the water looked extra blue and sparkly yesterday! I love going on mellow hikes with a gorgeous view because it makes me just relax and slow down from the fast paced lifestyle society brings.
