I reduced my meat intake this past week. I had to be creative and find other sources of protein, as our basketball team did a lot of working out this week. I definitely felt a difference in my energy and didn't feel as tired after our practices! I just love meat too much though, that's my problem. After my experiment this weak though I will for sure reduce my meat intake, as I found it very doable.

On Thursday morning I was able to tag along with a friend to help host a thanksgiving dinner for the homeless. The event was at Lindo Lake Park in Lakeside. It was a very humbling experience and I was able to meet a lot of new people.

My apartment has been doing a good job of minimizing our use of the heater as winter approaches. I was also about to talk to my brother about everything we have been learning in this class and it was interesting to see his reactions. Hopefully he takes a little something away from my talk and puts it to use.

I have begun to focus on my energy use as of recent and been doing little things like unplugging things that aren't being used, using cold water when washing my clothes, and using a fan rather than AC.

My ecochallenge has been going well! Starting tomorrow I plan to reduce my meat intake to in turn reduce my carbon footprint. Hopefully it will not be too hard for me as this will be my first time making this effort.

I have been doing a good job of reducing my driving. It has been very convenient living only a mile away from school for it has allowed me to only use my car when I need to go run errands. I have begun to have thoughts of selling my car and getting a bike! This may be a little extreme for me, but we'll see.

My eating organically as often as I can has been going well. Being an athlete, it is important to fuel your body with healthy foods to keep in top shape. It can be a little expensive at times but its benefits far outweigh the negatives. Going organic is helping reduce my exposure to pesticides, which are unhealthy for me and the planet.

That's cool, Yusuf. Be sure to use the "clean 15" and "dirty dozen" handout I gave you to prioritize your organic purchases. That way you can keep your organic costs down somewhat.

I did a little research about how much water I save when I turn the water off when brushing my teeth, and saw that I would save 200 gallons of water per month. I was not expecting that at all. I definitely plan to continue this habit in the future.

I have been doing this as well Yusuf! It is slightly obnoxious at the beginning, but now it is a habit

      Awesome! What was your source?

I have really started to notice the effects of eating organically. In general, I feel more energized, I feel as though I do not get sick as easily, and I feel as though I get better sleep. In doing so, I am also helping the environment because organic farming reduces pollution, conserves water, and uses less energy. I hope to continue to eat organically as much as possible.

This week I made an increased effort to shorten my showers. At first I thought it would be kind of tough to do but it is not all that hard at all. I set a timer on my phone to help me realize that my time is up. This week I also increased my transportation challenge of not driving to school from two days a week to four days a week. I am really starting to enjoy it. Not only does it decrease my carbon footprint but it gives me an opportunity to spend some time in thought. It also wakes me up and gets me ready for the day.
